Ahhh, we are coming to the end of another wonderful and very busy school year. I don’t know about you, but I am very impressed with the teachers of our time. We were blessed to work with amazing teachers this year who have exemplified the importance of helping children understand that they are known and loved.

In addition, they teach students the importance of education and empower them to cultivate curiosity, use their imagination, and develop critical thinking skills, empathy, and resilience. They do this because they are dedicated and genuinely love their students.

I have no doubt that even the very best teachers have their moments, and there are probably many challenging issues to deal with on a regular basis. Similar to the many teachers who find themselves wondering if they can make it through another year, I too wonder when I get exasperated with my little pal, Louie. Despite the amount of time and work I’ve invested in training Louie, he still has his challenges.

However, I also know that my time with Louie is slowly winding down. The last school visit Louie and I went on was in December 2025. That was a tough ending to a long career of spreading love. And I know he misses those visits, but we did our best to end that era well.

Many teachers and parents may find it challenging to end the school year well—they simply want it to be over. Even if things have not gone well, ending a chapter in our lives or a school year, in a positive and growth-promoting way, can be the best soul-care we can provide for ourselves and others.

What does it look like to end well?

  • Do your best to be kind, for starters. We could all use a bit of kindness right now. I love the verse in the Bible that says, “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” Good advice, hard to follow.
  • Take time to understand others. Our motto for our first book, Louie’s Little Legs and The Magic of Kindness (and for Unleash Love) is, “Be Kind—There is always something unknown in other people’s lives.”[1] Children are quick to understand this message and put it into practice. Teachers practice this every single day, taking the time to understand why a student may be acting out.
  • Don’t burn bridges and try to avoid bitterness and regret.

In a world full of challenges, teachers work hard to provide the necessary tools for students to build a strong foundation, helping them understand others and build a better tomorrow. I hope teachers look back on this year and know they have done their best, and can end the year well, knowing they have truly loved their students.

As for Louie, he has done well during his school visits, sharing the message of love and kindness, and has ended that chapter as a shining example to all. As we conclude this school year, we know we’ve done our best at Unleash Love to help children understand how to be loving people and build character, and we’ve provided stories that they love to read. As we continue to share our mission, we believe we will see an end to the terrible epidemic of bullying.

Teachers, we appreciate you and all the hard work you’ve put into sharing our message. Enjoy the summer. We’ll see you soon!

Blessings and LOVE, The Louie Crew
